The Micro Pre-filter is inexpensive and will extend the life of the more expensive HEPA filter because it captures particles down to .5 microns before they even reach the HEPA filter. You can also switch between wet and dry operation without getting the HEPA filter wet. A protective baffle wall inside the canister will always keep the HEPA filter dry. The Micro Pre-filter (bag) stays strong even when wet.
