EPA Approved HEPA Vacuum by Dustless Technologies

Be sure yor HEPA Wet/Dry vacuum is certified! Some companies claim to have a HEPA vacuum, but are they certified?  Don’t take a chance on being shut down by OSHA or the EPA, to say nothing about the steep fines the EPA can impose. Dustless Technologies uses a certified HEPA filter.

Meet EPA guidelines for lead paint removal in renovation projects. The Dustless HEPA vacuum is ideal for renovation contractors who have to comply with EPA regulations governing the safe removal of lead paint. The EPA specifies the use of a carpet head with a beater bar so be sure to order the optional HEPA Head™ carpet head. Its beater bar is powered by the air flow of the vacuum.

A big advantage of The Dustless HEPA wet/dry vacuum is the Micro Per-filter . The Micro Pre-filter is inexpensive and will extend the life of the more expensive HEPA filter because it captures particles down to .5 microns before they even reach the HEPA filter. Larger dust particles and debris are kept away form the HEPA filter leaving it to filter only particles form .5 to .3 microns.

You can also switch between wet and dry operation without getting the HEPA filter wet. A protective baffle wall inside the canister will always keep the HEPA filter dry. The Micro Pre-filter (bag) stays strong even when wet.

Features:

  • Certifed HEPA rated vacuum system meets EPA requirements for lead-safe certification
  • Optional disposable Micro-prefilter extends life of the HEPA filter
  • Can switch between wet and dry operation without stopping
  • Micro Pre-filter retains strength when wet
  • 16 gallon capacity
  • Designed specifically for capturing extra fine dust
  • Airtight design
  • Won’t “cough out” dust when turned on

Technical Specs:

  • CFM – 126.39
  • Inches Water lift – 76.9
  • Volts – 120
  • Amps – 10.6
  • Decibels – 79
  • Gallon capacity – 16
  • Standard accessories (2 wands, crevice tool, floor tool, Micro Pre-filter, 12 foot hose)

Filter replacement intervals:

The HEPA filter’s life can be greatly extended with the use of a Micro Pre-filter. The Micro Pre-filter captures particles down to .5 micron, meaning that it captures 99% of the dust, leaving only the smallest particles for the HEPA filter. How often you change it is a factor of how often you use a Micro Pre-filter with it, and how often you use it. Change it whenever you can see a distinct visible color change of the white folded filter material inside the cartridge.

The HEPA cover filter also captures dust down to .5 micron, providing a second layer of very effective filtration to protect, and extend the life of the HEPA filter. This filter should be replaced when it changes color and no longer looks white.

The Micro Pre-filter is capable of holding MORE than 40 LB of fine dust, but the vacuum is designed to be emptied at 40 lbs. so that at least half of the filter bag’s surface area is always free to support the high airflow rates required for effective dust control. The Micro Pre-filter should be replaced whenever the vacuum collects 40 lbs. of dust, or when it appears to be half full. It should be replaced after being used for Wet vacuuming so the interior of the vacuum does not become moldy. It does retain its strength when wet, so it is not imperative to do it right away.

It may be cheap, but to use it is not. This vacuum seems to have been made to sell filters. Not worth the hassle and extra cost.

    Jacob,
I agree that the replacement HEPA filter is not cheap (Running right around $150.00). However, the 2 pre-filters; one pre-filter is actually a bag, and the second filter around the HEPA are designed to filter out particles down to .5 microns at %99.97. These two pre-filters should greatly increse the life the more expensive HEPA filter.
The pre-filter bags come 2 to a pack and retail for around $22.00. The second pre-filter that covers the HEPA retails for around $22.00.
We would greatly appreciate any and all feedback from contractors who have used this Dustless Technologies model concerning filter usage and costs.
